more 2015 reading challenges: we stand-alone reading challenge + sequel reading challenge

Hello lovely followers. As you can see by the title, I've clearly gone mad and decided to host more reading challenges! I actually used to participate in both of these reading challenges while they were hosted by other blogs, but I searched the Google-sphere and found that this year they aren't being hosted. So I created my own names for them and decided that they needed to live again!

The first challenge is called We Stand-Alone Reading Challenge, which is a play-on-words for stand-alone novels and their subsequent companions should any exist. Here are the deets:

What are the rules of this challenge?
Your goal is to read at least ten (10) books that are either standalone novels or are part of a companion series that come out any year, but that you have read only in 2015. To "participate," you need a blog or a Goodreads account. Your reviews need to be written in English or need a translator. I will try to write up a post at the end of every three months where everyone participating can link up their reviews for these books and we can all check them out! And yes, books from other challenges count, just as long as they meet these requirements.

What books are on the We Stand-Alone RC list?
I have made a Goodreads group for this challenge, which has a list of books that will count for the challenge. This list may not be accurate as the publishers may have decided to pick up the second book and therefore it would be part of series. If there is an error, I will delete the book and that book will not count for the challenge anymore. I know this is slightly haphazard but hopefully it won't be too much of a problem. There are also many books that are not on the list, so you can make a judgment call on that; just make sure it's not part of a series with the same characters in each book, and it shouldn't be a problem.

Why should you join this challenge?
Because challenges are awesome! I go through so many standalones that I feel the need to document. Plus, I'd love suggestions of ones because there are times when I don't feel like making a series-long commitment. Everyone needs a push to to start something new.

How long does the challenge run?
Any books read from January 1st, 2015 - December 31st, 2015 count for this challenge. This means that if you read the first book in a series before January 1st or after December 31st, then it doesn't count. This also means ARCs that you may have already read this year that aren't published until 2015.

What should you do if you're an author coming out with the final novel in your series?
I would love to feature your book on the challenge list! Just make sure it fits within the rules of this challenge. Please e-mail me [mainardi(dot)nicole(at)gmail(dot)com] or comment on the group page and let me know if you want your book put on the list.

How do you join?
Sign up with the linky list! Also, I'd really like to know what books you plan to read or that you're just going to try and participate, so feel free to comment. Please sign up below with either a Goodreads URL to your page or your blog URL.

Next is the reading challenge for sequels. I sometimes find it hard to move on from that first book because so many sequels aren't nearly as interesting and action-packed as the first. This challenge has always helped me throw caution to the wind and pick up that sequel.

What are the rules of this challenge?
Your goal is to read at least ten (10) books that are the sequels in a series that come out any year, but that you have read only in 2015. Yes, this includes any books between the first and last in the series. To "participate," you need a blog or a Goodreads account. Your reviews need to be written in English or need a translator. I will try to write up a post at the end of every three months where everyone participating can link up their reviews for these books and we can all check them out! And yes, books from other challenges count, just as long as they meet these requirements.

Why should you join this challenge?
Because challenges are awesome! Sequels are sometimes really hard to get into, so hopefully this challenge will motivate everyone to buckle down and get through to the end of the series, or to read that newest sequel.

I always appreciate comments and cherish every one of them. THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE ZONE. I don't have the time to fulfill the requirements for the awards, but thank you so much for thinking of me. I just ask for no vulgarity, and if you have any issues with my reviews or writing style, please e-mail me instead of commenting. Now, vent to your heart's content!
