Harry Potter Wednesday (2)

This is an exciting new feature where I'm going to talk anything and everything Harry Potter, including the books, movies, and other propaganda. This was brought on by my obsession with the series, and I know there are those of you out there who are just as obsessed if not more obsessed than I am.
These posts will have spoilers. There's really no reason you shouldn't know everything that's gone on in all 7 books/movies, but I still feel obligated to inform you that I'm going to hold nothing back.

I'm on book 2 right now and just loving it!

FUN FACTS:
  • Mundungus Fletcher is first mentioned in passing by Arthur Weasley who says that, during a raid, Mundungus tried to hex him when his back was turned. Once a tool, always a tool.
  • We actually get a glimpse of Hermione's parents when they're in Diagon Alley shopping for their second year at Hogwarts.
A PERSONAL TOUCH:
  • When I first read the second book, I was so worried that Harry wasn't going to make it Hogwarts this time and that it would be a book all about the terrible Dursleys that I nearly put it down. But the front cover art told me fantastical things were coming, so I kept on.

Speaking of book two, there are new editions of the series coming out in August with new cover art! Yes, I love Mary GrandPre's work, but I think these covers will draw in a whole new generation who may have only seen the movies and not read the books at all. The cover for the second book just premiered this week:

What do you guys think of the new cover? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ooh, wouldn't I love to be able to reread the series at the moment! It would be fun. I love looking for early mentions of important characters and objects in earlier books - Jo is a genius!!
