Forbidden Friday is a blog feature created here at The Reader's Antidote, with my three features My Poison Pile, On the Blog This Week, and Tip of the Week.

My Poison Pile is a feature created by me. It features my current read and the next four books that I plan on reading.

Tip of the Week is where I endow some random tidbit of information onto you, whether it's with books, blogging or life!
You hear a lot of books being called formula books, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In math and science, formulas are the way to get to the correct and only answer. As readers, we like it when authors think out of the box, but in reality we love the parts of the book that are formula. Many YA books have been compared to Twilight, either as an exact copy or only embodying a few elements. But obviously Twilight worked, and it doesn't seem fair to categorize such a generic meeting between two people as always being a copy of Twilight. Now, I have to admit that there are some that take it beyond that original meeting and make it so that it really does turn into a copy of it, but some people won't even give the rest of the book a chance because of the opening in a book that they find similar to another. What I'm trying to say is that formulas work for a reason, and just because a book starts out like another book you've read doesn't mean that it's not going to end up vastly different.
