Forbidden Friday is a blog feature created here at The Reader's Antidote, with my two features My Poison Pile and On the Blog This Week. In My Mailbox will now be in a separate post.

My Poison Pile is a meme created here at The Reader's Antidote, which features my current read and the next four books that I'm going to read.

Tip of the Week is a feature where I endow some random tidbit of information onto you, whether it's with blogging, books, or life.
I really wish I had a good tip for you guys this week... Nothing really monumental has happened lately, but I was thinking about how you have preconceived notions about a movie, and sometimes it turns out exactly how you thought/hoped it would (good or bad), you're blown away, or completely disappointed. For example, Warm Bodies met my expectations as a fun and hilarious romance that really showed the power of love. And with Beautiful Creatures, I set me expectations super low, and was mildly surprised when it was better than my expectations. The same really goes for books. I only bring up movies because of the Oscars and I went to go see Silver Lining's Playbook. But I know that with certain books (especially debuts with a lot of buzz) I get my expectations up really high and then I'm usually let down. So I don't want my advice for this week to be about not expecting much from either movies or TV or books. I guess just don't always believe what you hear. I've learned to make up my own mind, although it's a little more difficult with books since there are usually no trailers to watch that'll get your attention. But don't be afraid to try something new either; you might actually end up liking it, or totally hating it. As long as its your opinion.

  1. so what did you think of silver linings? i liked it but, as i said, i don't think it's the best thing since ice cream like everyone else seems to think.

maybe i will read more bloodlines this weekend...
