Laini Taylor signing at Glendale Americana!

I can't remember the last time I did a recap for an event that I actually went to! I'm really glad I got to go. I saw the usual crowd: Stacey, Ava (who came late), Thuy, Alethea, and Kimberly. It was so great seeing them all, I missed my book buddies! Then, all of a sudden, we hear a live marching band, which turns out to be from USC. I forget why they were there exactly, but some sort of rally was going on.

I actually met Laini before at the Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach last year when Daughter of Smoke and Bone came out, so she remembered me, which was nice. She read a few chapters from Days of Blood and Starlight and then of course opened it up to questions. Then, the signing began, and I was glad to be in the front row. There were a lot of people there, which is great for Laini, but bad for people sitting in the back. I also ran into Leigh Bardugo, author of Shadow and Bone (which I thought was kind of funny, since their titles are so similar!), and we hugged and it was awesome!

(Yep, that's me and Laini! Like my hat? :D)

I'm going to keep looking over this next month for more signings before I go on winter break. I was so addicted to them, and now that there are none near me I'm having withdrawals! If you ever have a chance to meet Laini (or any author for that matter!) you should definitely do it. The signings I go to are an experience I will never forget, and you get to meet all these amazing book people!

  1. Lucky! I saw her at Huntington Beach last year, but she didn't do any signings near me this year. I did order a signed copy of DoBS from a bookstore in Dallas though. I can't wait to start it.

    PS--I do like the hat!
