Cover Poison: Unbreakable, Vortex, Life After Theft, & Emblaze

A lot of covers have been coming out this week. And I do mean A LOT. Earlier this week, there was the cover for Shadow of the Mark, Sweet Peril, Ashes on the Waves and so many others. Well, here's a few more to add to the list!

PUBLICATION DATE: April 23rd, 2013

Four months after Ben disappeared through the portal to his home universe, Janelle believes she’ll never see him again. Her world is still devastated, but life is finally starting to resume some kind of normalcy. Until Interverse Agent Taylor Barclay shows up. Somebody from an alternate universe is running a human trafficking ring, kidnapping people and selling them on different Earths—and Ben
is the prime suspect. Now his family has been imprisoned and will be executed if Ben doesn’t turn himself over within five days.

And when Janelle learns that someone she cares about—someone from her own world—has become one of the missing, she knows that she has to help Barclay, regardless of the danger. Now Janelle has five days to track down the real culprit. Five days to locate the missing people before they’re lost forever. Five days to reunite with the boy who stole her heart. But as the clues begin to add up, Janelle realizes that she’s in way over her head—and that she may not have known Ben as well as she thought. Can she uncover the truth before everyone she cares about is killed?

My thoughts: I love this even better than the first one! I hope they also keep the same material that they used for the dust jacket on the first one. So excited to read this one!

The impossible was just the beginning. Now in their second year as superhuman government weapons-in-training at the Pentagonal Spire, Tom Raines and his friends are mid-level cadets in the elite combat corps known as the Intrasolar Forces. But as training intensifies and a moment arrives that could make or break his entire career, Tom’s loyalties are again put to the test.

Encouraged to betray his ideals and friendships for the sake of his country, Tom is convinced there must be another way. And the more aware he becomes of the corruption surrounding him, the more determined he becomes to fight it, even if he sabotages his own future in the process.

Drawn into a power struggle more dramatic than he has ever faced before, Tom stays a hyperintelligent step ahead of everyone, like the exceptional gamer he is—or so he believes. But when he learns that he and his friends have unwittingly made the most grievous error imaginable, Tom must find a way to outwit an enemy so nefarious that victory seems hopeless. Will his idealism and bravado cost him everything—and everyone that matters to him?

Filled with action and intelligence, camaraderie and humor, the second book in S.J. Kincaid’s futuristic World War III Insignia trilogy continues to explore fascinating and timely questions about power, politics, technology, loyalty, and friendship.

My thoughts: I love this blue cover, and it definitely fits this series. I have a signed copy of the first one at home, but I'm not sure when I'll start it.

PUBLICATION DATE: April 30th, 2013

My thoughts: I mean, the cover is nothing like her Wings series, obviously. But I'm pretty sure this is a contemporary so it fits perfectly. You can read what Aprilynne says about it here.

Once again Violet Eden faces an impossible choice ... and the consequences are unimaginable.

Violet has come to terms with the fact that being part angel, part human, means her life will never be as it was.

Now Violet has something Phoenix - the exiled angel who betrayed her - will do anything for, and she has no intention of letting it fall into his hands. The only problem is that he has something she needs too.

Not afraid to raise the stakes, Phoenix seemingly holds all the power, always one step ahead. And when he puts the final pieces of the prophecy together, it doesn't take him long to realise exactly who he needs in order to open the gates of Hell.

With the help of surprising new allies, ancient prophecies are deciphered, a destination set and, after a shattering confrontation with her father, Violet leaves for the islands of Greece without knowing if she will have a home to return to...

My thoughts: This is the US cover for the third book in this series, and I really like it! It makes me wonder what color they'll use for the fourth one.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oooh Emblaze & Life After Theft! Can't Wait :)

  2. I'm so excited for Emblaze! Everyone has said such good things of Unraveling I think I'm just going to have to buy it soon! YAY for new covers and new books :)

  3. I still need to read Unraveling. I have my copy, I just haven't had the time to pick it up. Maybe I'll wait until the next one comes out. I don't really care for the US cover. I seem to remember liking the UK cover better for Unraveling. I didn't know Aprilynne Pike was writing a contemp, but I like the cover. :)
