For this Top Ten Tuesday, we had a chance to pick our favorite covers of anything we wanted, but the covers for this year are just so good! Even if I haven't read most of these, the covers are beautiful. So many dresses! Also, I may have gone a little over ten... Like double.
1. City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare
This is my absolute favorite of the series. I enjoyed Jace's chest on City of Bones but that yellow color bothered me, so having both Jace and Clary on the front is just amazing. Also, I can't wait to read it!!
2. Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth
These covers kind of grew on me. I recently bought the paperback of Divergent, and it's really shiny and the cover feels amazing! So, besides the fact that this is one of my most anticipated reads of this year, I've grown to love the covers.
3. Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky #1) by Veronica Rossi
I finished reading this one just last month, and when I got the signed copy in the mail from Anna (Literary Exploration), I was surprised by how beautiful it was in person and how different it felt. The top part is normal and smooth, while the bottom part is rough. I admit to stroking it often while I read it.
4. Incarnate (Newsoul #1) by Jodi Meadows
I really need to go to the bookstore and pick up a finished copy to look at. I only read the ARC (I'll be buying a finished copy as soon as it goes to paperback) and the ARC covers never do it justice. It is quite stunning though.
5. Until I Die (Revenants #2) by Amy Plum
In January, I finished the first in the series (a little late, I know) and really enjoyed it. Now I can't wait to hold this beautiful purple cover in my hands. I like it even better than the first one.
6. Defiance (Defiance #1) C.J. Redwine
This cover was just recently released but I'm already in love with it! The image of the city blending with her cloak is too awesome! Also, the premise sounds really awesome and I definitely can't wait to read this one.
7. Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
I've been drooling over this cover for a long time, so of course it would be on the list. I also love Edgar Allen Poe and this story in particular. I also like how we can't see the girl's face. I like that about the Revenants series as well. I want to make my own assumptions of what the girl looks like. Also, it's dystopian. Can't wait to read this one.
8. Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by R.L. LaFevers
I don't why, but I am just so in love with this cover. The castle in the background and the fierceness of the girl really brings it together. Add to it the fact that it sounds totally awesome, and hence why it is on this list. I have a review copy and I can't wait to read it.
9. Hemlock (Hemlock #1) by Kathleen Peacock
Another cover I've been drooling over for some time. The author's last name is Peacock so that also attracted me, the way it was on the cover and how with all those greens and purple it kind of reminds me of a peacock.
10. Arise (Hereafter #2) by Tara Hudson
Another one I've only read just recently, but I felt like the cover really gave off the mood of the book. And looking at this cover, I have to wonder what's going to happen in this book, what with the graveyard and all. Creepy.
11. Rapture (Fallen #4) by Lauren Kate
I've always loved these covers (for Passion that's a pretty big reason for why I bought it), and so it's only natural that the final book in the series has a gorgeous cover as well.
12. Everneath (Everneath #1) by Brodi Ashton
I'd heard very mixed reviews for this one, but found myself really enjoying it. One of the main reasons I bought it though it because of the cover. Harper Collins really know what they're doing (notice how many of these are from Harper Collins imprints). You know wish you had a dress that was literally smoking.
13. Before I Wake (Soul Screamers #6) by Rachel Vincent
Every cover for this series has been gorgeous, especially in the later books. If I Die was my favorite because it's green, but I love this one because her back is turned to the camera. That's definitely a testament to what's going to happen to Kaylee in this second-to-last Soul Screamers novel.
14. Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles #1) by Jessica Spotswood
This cover is awesome in two-fold. One is that gorgeous photograph. The bright flowers really offset the neutral colors of the rest of the cover. Also, it feels amazing. Another one of those rough-ish surfaces. Again, stroking was involved.
15. The Selection (The Selection #1) by Keira Cass
I know this book as been getting a really bad rap because of all the drama with the author and her agent bashing people that gave it bad reviews and deleting those reviews. But I'm pushing that from my mind because this cover is truly beautiful. That dress! Me want!
16. Of Poseidon by Anna Banks
I've noticed that, even though most mermaid books aren't up to par, their covers are amazing! I have a review copy of this book so I'll be reading it soon, but it'll be interesting to see the cover in person. I love the way the water ripples around her.
17. Fracture by Megan Miranda
While I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would, I can't deny the awesomeness of this cover. It's even more vibrant in real life.
18. Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne
I know everyone has been cover-lusting over this one, and I can't disagree. I bought a signed copy a couple weeks ago and the cover is everything I had hoped for. It's not more gorgeous in person, but really it's already stunning enough.
19. Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters #1) by Jessica Shirvington
I feel like this book has come out of nowhere and everyone is talking about it! I definitely fell in love with this cover. It's another purple one and I like the way the wings are portrayed. I will definitely be trying to get my hands on this one.
20. Onyx (Lux #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Obsidian was an amazing read for me, and I love the model they have for Daemon *stares wonderingly at tall, dark and handsome model...* Ahem, anyway, he's the sole reason for me picking this cover. Just... yummy.
What do you guys think of my picks? Are any of these on your reading list? Is there such thing as too many covers with flowing dresses? Let me know in the comments!
