Follow Friday (17)

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Question of the Week: Have you ever looked at a book's cover and thought, This is going to be horrible? But, was pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

YES! I have a prime example of this actually. Everyone always raves about how awesome the original Mortal Instruments covers are, but really I think they're ugly, especially the City of Bones one (I love the half-naked Jace, but yellow? Really?). They've looked better now that I'm totally in love with the books themselves, but the covers are horrible at first glance. When I bought City of Bones, I'd just finished an absolutely horrible novel that also had a yellow cover. Needless to say, yellow covers were not on my good side, and even the synopsis sounded really stupid to me. But I figured it couldn't get any worse than the last book I'd read, so why not? And it turned out to be my favorite series of all time. This is one of those times where I say don't judge a book by it's cover. I have so many more examples of beautiful covers and crappy books. This was a beyond pleasant surprise and a decision I will never regret.
